What are Peekaboo Pockets™?

I LOVE Creative Memories‘ Peekaboo Pockets™. This is an absolute genius product and very affordable! Have you ever struggled with narrowing down your 100 pictures of the same topic? We take so many pictures and sometimes we can narrow down easily because only SOME of those pictures are gorgeous. But what if you can’t decide? What if so many of them take your breath away that you do not want to eliminate?

Think about the volume of pictures you might take, say, at the birth of a new baby, or at a 50th wedding anniversary party, or opening gifts on Christmas day. These are very meaningful pictures, but if you are like me, you take so many pictures at these one-day events that you could do a WHOLE album on it. And it was just ONE day! Sometimes, you may WANT an entire album. Other times, you don’t. For those times when you want those pictures to occupy only a PORTION of your album, not the entire album, Peekaboo Pockets™ will help. In addition, they are clever. Hence, you will LOVE the way people react to your albums when you use them!

Add a pull tab for a cute way to make your scrapbook more interesting and interactive.

How to Use Peekaboo Pockets™ in your Scrapbook Album

Peekaboo Pockets™ come in different sizes. They come in 4×6 and 5×7. Each one is designed to hold two pictures, journal mats, or memorabilia pieces; one on each side. You will want a lot of the 4×6’s if you are going to try this. They come with 10 in a pack for only $6.00, but you will use them up quickly! I like 5×7’s for oversized memorabilia. I seldom print 5×7’s, but for something special like pictures of the new grad or bridal photos, these would also be ideal.

There is also a specialty pack of Peekaboo Pockets™ that come in 6×12 size. When I say 6×12’s, people always look at me like I’m crazy! Photos don’t come in 6×12’s, right? However, these little packs of goodness allow you to add ONE WHOLE PAGE to your double-page spread. (6×12 on front and 6×12 on back makes a 12×12 spread, right?) If you are kind of neurotic about making sure both of your side-by-side pages contain photos of the same topic, 6×12 Peekaboo Pockets™ will allow you to basically add a THIRD page to your double-page spread! (Hey, I’m not pointing any fingers. I’m a bit neurotic about this myself!)

What is hard for people to understand is that Peekaboo Pockets™ absolutely do not go on your page itself. YOU FINISH YOUR DOUBLE-PAGE SPREAD, ADD YOUR PAGE PROTECTORS, and THEN add your extra pictures or memorabilia you want to be included on that page with the Peekaboo Pockets™.

Each pocket has an invisible (and I mean absolutely invisible) strip of adhesive on it and is designed to adhere nicely on the page protectors. This is ideal because, of course, you want to put page protectors on your photographs, but what is the purpose of putting something DOUBLE-SIDED UNDERNEATH the page protector? You would have to pull off your page protector to SEE both sides of the image. Not with Peekaboo Pockets™.

There is some strategy and planning required to use them, but even with the planning, Peekaboo Pockets™ will help you to finish the album MUCH faster than if you were to complete additional double-page spreads with all of those extra photos! Plus, if you do less pages, you will save some money, too!

Ideal Uses for Peekaboo Pockets™

I love using Peekaboo Pockets™ to show chronological order. If you have 10 photos of a sunset, for instance, that could be a double-page spread all by itself. However, the sunset was just ONE special thing about that dinner at a favorite restaurant! Why not have a picture of you and your hubby eating the meal, a photo of the dessert, a picture of you and your hubby with the sunset as the background… Then, for the sunset, the photo that you see most prominently shows the sun with the beautiful clouds just before it starts to go down. Underneath, add an accordion of sunset photos, all at different phases, ending with the final picture with the sun just barely peeking over the skyline. The sunset is not minimized at all. The Peekaboo Pockets™ are so interesting that everyone will want to see all of those sunset pictures, but it doesn’t allow the photos to take up too much space in your album. This method also keeps YOU and your family as the main focus of the spread. You could literally put ALL TEN sunset photos in a 4×6 space! Make sense?

You will love this product. They are so fun for the creative types out there and super economical for my get-it-done types, too.

Using Peekaboo Pockets for Your Next Scrapbooking Project

Watch my video tutorial above to learn the thought process I use when I incorporate Peekaboo Pockets™ into my albums. Loading your pictures, finding the invisible adhesive strip, and attaching the Peekaboo Pockets™ to your page protector can be tricky the first time. Watching the video will cut down the learning curve on a product that I believe will be a new staple in your scrapbooking supplies once you try them.

You can find Peekaboo Pockets™ on the Creative Memories website under Shop > Pages & Protectors > Pocket Pages.

Happy scrapping! Thanks for reading. I appreciate you.

Blessings,
Beckie
